James Horner
Back to Titanic

1997 saw the release of low-budget arthouse movie Titanic, which is about a little boat with big dreams. James Horner - he of Jumanji and Braveheart fame - composed the film’s music, but decided to rejig the score a year later for a suite entitled Back To Titanic. The recordings, which feature the London Symphony Orchestra and the Choristers of King’s College, Cambridge, are now getting a little reissue. The vinyl edition marks the first time that Back To Titanic has made it to wax.

James Horner
Titanic (Music From The Motion Picture)

It's Leo Season, baby! Automatically a good movie because it has De Caprio in it, Titanic is otherwise everything you'd expect a James Cameron movie to be: laborious, self-indulgent and remarkably watchable. As the ship sinks on Kate Winslet and her heart, score-for-hire musician James Horner does his symphonic magic.

Commando (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

“Let off some steam, Bennett”. Well, before Bennett’s grizzly end at the hands of Arnold Schwartzenegger in ‘80s action classic Commando, he could have let off some steam by relaxing with a fresh vinyl copy of James Horner’s soundtrack. It features three tracks that didn’t appear in the film including one by Robert Palmer/Duran Duran/Chic supergroup The Power Station. Black ‘face paint’ splatter 2LP vinyl on Real Gone Music, limited to 1500 copies.

Aliens

The soundtrack to what is probably director James Cameron’s finest hour here: Aliens! James Horner applies suitable amounts of sonic creep and audio terror, firmly implying the presence of the terrible double-mouthed beasts. The soundtrack has been released before, but this double LP version includes stacks of previously unreleased tracks and cues. On Mondo.
