The Glow

Teaming up with big-name producer Stuart Price, who delivered exceptional albums for the likes of Madonna, New Order and The Killers, Australian rock trio DMA’s are looking to break into the mainstream with their third studio effort The Glow. Hopefully they’ll be able to shake off the albatross of being that band who covered Cher.

MTV Unplugged Live

The legendary MTV Unplugged Live series puts Anglophile rockers DMA’S under the microscope, making them one of the few Australian acts to be granted the honour. Re-arranging their boisterous tunes for acoustic guitars, pianos and strings, the Britpop-indebted trappings of their songs are largely gone and reveal some proper emotional heft.

For Now

Hot on the heels of being ordained as one of Liam Gallagher’s favourite Aussie groups - probably because they sound quite a lot like Oasis - DMA’s shoot for the stars on For Now. If singles ‘Dawning’ and ‘In The Air’ are anything to go by, expect another album of sun-kissed Britpop whimsy from the Sydney three-piece. This one’s going to make them loads of money. Throw another shrimp on the barbie!

Hills End

Hill’s End is the debut full-length from DMA’s, a present day Australian group who nevertheless manage to sound exactly like a band from 1990’s Great Britain. Even the vocals sound totally Mancunian. If you like your guitar-pop edging into Britpop territory though, this’ll work nicely for you. On Infectious Music.

The DMA’s are a three piece who present a classic 90’s Britpop sound, and yet they hail from Australia! Whatever is going on? This self-titled EP is their first major release, available on CD or on nice white vinyl. Would suit fans of Oasis who want to listen to a band that isn’t actually Oasis.
