Nick Klein
Bathroom Wall

Brooklyn-based Nick Klein checks in again after January’s Lowered Flaming Coffin EP for Alter. Now he’s on BANK Records and aiming high with Bathroom Wall, a filthy electro EP about a mouldy-looking urinal. The material originates in modular synth splashed onto tape and then given a good master scrub by Josh Bonati.

Nick Klein
Lowered Flaming Coffin

Nick Klein is worried. Worried and anxious about living in New York at a time of such unstable political and social disharmony. Whilst he tries to filter it out, sometimes enough is enough and this is a war cry to intervene. Lowered Flaming Coffin begins nicely enough with shimmering cyclical tones before descending into foreboding thuds and riotous blasts of electronic noise. 12” on Alter.

Nick Klein
The Lonesome Dealer

Nick Klein comes to the dancefloor from a performance and sound-art background, mixing up noise-damaged industrial techno with a real kick to it. The 4 tracks of The Lonesome Dealer are heavy and woozy and carefully constructed for precision impact. This 12” is released by Luke Younger (aka Helm)’s Alter label.

Nick Klein
Rhinestone Cowboy

Nick Klein is an electronic producer with a fondness for the more bludgeoning ends of techno-derived musics. Rhinestone Cowboy has him dabbling around for four tracks of hard-hitting dancefloor deviance, oscillating between minimal and maximal but always holding the attention. Imported 12” on US label L.I.E.S.

BC003

This third release on the Broken Call label features tracks from 5 different artists, presented in no-nonsense style with a catalogue number for a title. On BC003, producers including Patricia (Opal Tapes) Nick Klein (Ascetic House, Unknown Precept), Segv (Sly Fox Records) and Gaul Plus turn in pieces of music that are dance-friendly, but also disorienting, confusing, and a little dark. Just how we like it!

Failed Devotee

Failed Devotee is new five track EP from Brooklyn resident Nick Klein. The music within is techno, but warped, fuzzy and very analog. It’s heavy and it roars and stalks like a retro-futuristic soundtrack to something very sinister. In places it sounds like a kind of lo-fi version of Art Of Noise. Failed Devotee is Klein’s debut EP for Unknown Precept.
