The Silence
Metaphysical Feedback

Enjoy the Silence. Mind you, a shared interest in all things quiet is really where the similarities between Depeche Mode and this Tokyo-based quartet end. The ambitious psychedelia, Krautrock and free music of the Silence's fourth LP 'Metaphysical Feedback' pretty much couldn’t be further from the slick grooves of Fletcher, Gahan et al. Can and Neu! are the obvious touchstones here.

The Silence
Nine Suns, One Morning

Amounting to the third album of Tokyo-based outfit The Silence is Nice Suns, One Morning. As it shifts across an array of styles and variations of modern rock, the offering prioritises free-flowing improvisation over the cull of safe and easy songwriting - amounting to a highly creative record without restraint.

Hark The Silence

Hark The Silence is the second record by The Silence, a Japanese combo. Following on from their debut, the band have decided to say ‘fuck the songs!’ and delve into weighty instrumental madness as often as possible. They get so into it that the record stretches across 2 LPs. On Drag City.

The Silence

Founded by three original members of Japanese, eighties, experimental rock band Ghost, The Silence features Okano on drums and percussion, Batoh on guitar and vocals and Ogino taking care of production and arrangement as well as selecting additional members Jan Stigter on bass, Ryuichiro Yoshida on flute and saxophone and himself on organ and piano. Their self-titled debut ‘The Silence’ is a powerful piece of rock and roll that draws on the traditions and imagery of ancient, mysticism, dark arts and musical techniques.
