DJ Sotofett Vinyl, CD & tapes from this artist at Norman Records
Honest Jon’s serve up a stellar slice of modern dub here with Stotofett’s ‘Dub Off’. The template of dub is left the same on this release, but the sound is updated with modern production techniques and tampering, giving a sense of the familiar being playfully toyed with. There’s an amazing dual sense of clarity and dissolution on this one.
An all-star delight from Norway by way of the Ivory Coast here. On ‘C’est l’aventure' we see DJ Sotofett joined by Kambo Super Sound’s Haugen Inna Di Bu, his son Maimouna Haugen, Stiletti Ana and Gilb R to create a psychedelic dancefloor number. Over a shuffling funk instrumental that takes in everything from The Incredible Bongo Band to Sun Ra, the younger Haugen tells the tale of his migration from Africa to Scandinavia in a smoky drawl. The ‘Dubplate Mix’ gives it a straighter, more mix-friendly 4/4 beat.
Detroit's Fit Siegel and Helsinki's DJ Sotofett hook up as S & M Trading Co. Moody acid melts the glacial atmosphere across the three mixes of 'Metal Surface Repair'. Alongside the original cut is an Acidic Mix which amps up the 303 action and a more ethereal, floating Synthetic Mix. Available on 12" on Aaron "Fit" Siegel's superb Fit Sound label outta Detroit.

DJ Sotofett Presents Jesse
Via Helsinki, techno iconoclast DJ Sotofett continues to confuse the game on this stellar collaboration with Finnish artists Kalifornia Keke and Stiletti Ana. In parts a reflection of disco and psychedelia, Twotinos is another release that shows off Sotofett's brisk approach to the leftfield.

Smooth team-up from DJ Sotofett and SVN (of SUED). 1 track per producer, both luxuriating in deep house, balearic vibes. Sotofett’s Current 82 is perhaps the more melancholy and SVN’s Dark Plan 5 the more stripped-back and dance-efficient, but the tracks make a good pairing. On Keys Of Life.
DJ Sotofett, veteran of releases of many releases on the likes of Wania, Versatile Records and Honest Jon’s over the last 5 years, steps up the plate once more with this 12” on Fit. Percussion Mixes Vol. 1 is true to its name, with both tracks brimming with sampled and electronic percussion. Intricate, highly rhythmic constructions.
Borft is the four-track EP from DJ Sotofett. Back to the classic, old-school sounding experimental house the killer EP is full of tropical-dub with elements of techno. Described as ‘raj raj and mysteriousness’ this record is released on Borft Records and available on Vinyl 12”. Back to basics with this one.
Jungle drums put down the beat while lush strings lull you into a hot, temperate dream. Featuring mixes by all your favorite usual suspects, DJ Sotofett’s new release comes blasting at full strength. Drippin’ for a Tripp is a colorful album that will leave you soaked with its refreshing sounds.
Booming no-nonsense deep house from DJ Sotofett. This tune is so down-to-business that it doesn’t even really have a name (So-Phat-1 simply denoting the label), although Sotofett does himself a disservice by labelling one of the two mixes presented here as Generic Mix, as there is plenty of character in this dancefloor killer. 12” on So-Phat.
Newcomer Zarate_Fix once again teams up with DJ Sotofett for some breezily stomping house action on Thug. Unlike their previous release, this one sees more collaboration between the two, coaxing cosmic, expansive beatscapes out of each others' heads to exhilarating effect. Look out for some deep choirs on the title track and some intense synth walls on 'Solar Mixx'.
DJ Sotofett of Wania and Sex Tags fame puts his own spin on mid-70s jazz funk. The two Finnish releases saw a 2001 release on Jazzpuu. The first features rampaging drums and hip-jerking bass backing a proper jam, whilst the flip emphasises the low-end through a driving bassline. Both are evidently made with serious movement in mind!
