The Slow Show
Lust and Learn

The Slow Show, as well as being my latter day footballing nickname, are an indie band from Manchester who combine elements of The Blue Nile, Talk Talk and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. As you can imagine from a band with such a name, their songs unfold gradually revealing their greatness, unlike my latter day 5-a-side career. Lust and Learn is their third album. LP and CD on PIAS.

The Slow Show
Dream Darling

Powerful, string backed, slow crescendo ballads of The National with deep and nearing on breaking baritone soft spoken vocals reminiscent of Lambchop. Big piano chords and warm trundling bass and drums, huge, yet subtle swelling orchestral pieces back the drama and intimacy of these songs for a little self reflection.

The Slow Show
White Water

The first UK release on German label Haldern Pop Recordings, White Water is one of those intimate, oh so humble records in that North Western Elbow mold. The Slow Show just so happen to hail from Manchester too, with singer Rob Goodwin’s baritone vocals fusing that Garveyian drawl with the baritone sonorities of Matt Berninger. Out on CD and vinyl LP from Haldern Pop.
