Tuxedo II

The second record by Tuxedo (Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One) is, remarkably, yet more funky than their first! Tuxedo II seems to be making a pitch for Tuxedo as the heirs of George Clinton and Nile Rodgers, being packed with grin-inducing grooves and big pop hooks. Proper party music, released by Stones Throw.

Tuxedo
III

You ever listen to that band Chromeo and think "yes, the world needs more of these hipster duos knowingly parodying the sounds of 80’s funk"? This Norman Records™ language-lackey does. Every day I sit there, gazing out my window, wishing that I didn’t have to deal with all the Merzbows and Ziurs and Shellacs of this world. Wishing that a group like Tuxedo would come along and turn in a set of tunes so meticulous in their parody that they could quite easily have been taped in 1983. Clearly I’m not alone in this - MF DOOM, DāM-FunK, Benny Sings and other notable guests all grab a piece of the action on the band’s third album III. Sometimes dreams do come true.
