Stelvio Cipriani
Un'ombra nell'ombra (Ring of Darkness)

From the bottomless vaults of Italian horror movie soundtracks with some involvement from Goblin, here is the OST to the 1979 film Un’ombra nell’ombra (aka Ring Of Darkness), presented on vinyl for the first time ever! Composed by Stelvio Cipriani and performed by Goblin, the music is groovy, proggy, weird and atmospheric. Limited edition of 500 LPs on Four Flies.

Amer (Colona Sonora Originale Del Film)

The 2009 film Amer is made by hardcore fans of Italian horror movie history, so naturally they really went to town on the soundtrack, using sounds by 70’s cult composer legends Stelvio Cipriani and Bruno Nicolai. Oh, and Ennio Morricone himself! Plus some ‘tension loops’ in the wax. 500 copies only, on We Release Whatever The Fuck We Want.

Stelvio Cipriani
UST 7013

Stelvio Cipriani whipped up this lovely little session in 1976, and it is full of treats. The general vibe of UST 7013 (you know it's a proper library music LP when it doesn’t have a proper title) is sweeping cinematic themes tempered with groovy beats, but a weird and wonderful surprise version of Iron Butterfly’s ‘In A Gadda Vida’ also pops up. Reissued by Sonor Music Editions.

Stelvio Cipriani
Quel pomeriggio maledetto

What could be more delectable than the soundtrack to a sleazy 70’s Italian crime movie? Stelvio Cipriani’s Quel pomeriggio maledetto accompaniment is just what you’d want it to be, full of dramatic swagger and cool instrumental funk. Plus a very striking cover image taken from the film. LP reissue on Cinedelic.

Stelvio Cipriani
Tentacles (Tentacoli)

Tentacles was a 1977 thriller directed by Ovidio Assonotis, and Stelvio Cipriani provided the jazzy dramatic soundtrack, filling the film with brash horns and cycling harpsichord. Good fun. This is the first time ever that the soundtrack has appeared on vinyl, and it’s transparent vinyl at that! Gatefold double LP limited to 500 copies, on Dagored.

Stelvio Cipriani
Rhythmical Movement

A very strong 1980 slice of Italian library music from Stelvio Cipriani, who was obviously commissioned to write some damn-funky sounds the day he took this to the studio. The title Rhythmical Movement is an understatement: this is some fierce disco-funk-rock when it gets going. Edition of 500 LPs, packed in a space-age mirrored sleeve.

Composed By Stelvio Cipriani & Performed By Goblin
The Bloodstained Shadow

This soundtrack to the Giallo movie The Bloodstained Shadow was recorded by Goblin, the band that may as well have been the in-house band for the scene. Performing Stelvio Cipriani’s compositions, this style-hopping collection has been lost for years, but is now pressed to vinyl for the first time ever! 180g wax on Death Waltz.

Stelvio Cipriani
Deviation

Deviation is a spooky British horror film directed by Jose Larraz that has been somewhat forgotten. That is a shame, especially as Stelvio Cipriani’s marvellous soundtrack has been forgotten alongside it: in fact, this is the first time it has been released, ever, in any format. Clear vinyl 10” on Dagored, with only 500 copies out there!

Stelvio Cipriani
Papaya, Love Goddess Of The Cannibals (Original 1978 Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Stelvio Cipriani’s much sought after soundtrack to the classic cannibal film Papaya, Love Goddess of the Cannibals is finally repressed to wax by One Way Static. Cipriani was a prolific Italian composer, relentlessly writing scores for iconic horror, giallo, exploitation and spaghetti western films. The sounds on this deluxe gatefold vinyl LP are a tripped out blend of sleazy funk and strange synths. Comes on green/pink or clear/pink haze split vinyl.

Stelvio Cipriani
La polizia ringrazia

Another corker from the Florentine label Dagored, here we have Stelvio Cipriani’s soundtrack to the 1972 film La polizia ringrazia, one of the first poliziottesco films. The genre is defined by it’s often high tempo and brooding soundtracks and here is no different. Limited to 500 copies and on a light beige vinyl.

Stelvio Cipriani
Gli Orrori del Castello di Norimberga (Baron Blood)

Getting jaded by the 1970s Italian film industry’s seemingly infinite ability to match grotesque images with frenzied soundtracks? Didn't think so. Stelvio Cipriani’s soundtrack to Gli Orrori del Castello di Norimberga (or more effectively, Baron Blood) is mostly forgotten despite its surreal bossa nova grooves and weird maximalism easily competing with Morricone and Goblin. Ltd. vinyl LP in blood splattered wax, of course.
