A Distant Fist Unclenching

A Distant Fist Unclenching by Krill was produced by Justin Pizzoferato, who has also worked with fellow Bostonians, Dinosaur Jr and Speedy Ortiz. The album marks a progression in their sound whilst keeping everything that was good about their earlier recordings. Their complex and unusual take on indie rock is enhanced by vocals that range from a gentle whisper to furious snaps.

Lucky Leaves

There is a song called "Peanut Butter" on this Krill record so let's just shut up shop now because I'm pretty sure music is over. Seriously, though, what would you expect from these sad-sac slackers, who craft indie rock out of fuzzy, gloomy guitars, clamouring drums and deep sighs. At times it recalls the less crazy, more stuck-in-the-mud records from the Dismemberment Plan. Mostly, 'Lucky Leaves' is a record of indie rock's contradicting tones: brightly despondent, wonderfully sad, raucously slow.
