One of the highlights from Clap! Clap!’s excellent 2017 LP A Thousand Skies, ‘Ode To the Pleiades’ gets to take centre-stage on this release. The original’s expanded-mind mix of jazz piano, Rhodes organ and mighty kick drum recalled a more maximalist version of Teebs, and this live version builds on those foundations the great effect. Also includes remixes by Photay and Italo-Disco legends Daniel Baldelli and Marco Dionigi. Out via Black Acre.
Returning once again under the moniker of Clap! Clap! is King of Italy’s global dance and electronic scenes, Cristiano Crisci, with his second album, “A Thousand Skies”. This album sees an amalgam of samples and live instrumentation married with the musical idiosyncrasies of a range of talented collaborators such as John Wizards, OY, and Bongeziwe Mabandla.

As part of an exciting new project, the bulging archives of the International Library of African Music have been opened to a range of contemporary producers. On this 12”, With You, Luke Vibert and Clap! Clap! all make a track using Hugh Tracy’s recordings (made over a 50 year period!). Talented names, amazing source material: what’s not to like?
Clap! Clap!’s music sounds about as ecstatic sounding as the name does, whisking up intense drum programming reminiscent of footwork with tunes and rhythms from the producer’s native Italy, adding in a sprinkling of bright samples sourced from around the world. The Simple EP is released by Black Acre.
The modern and the ancient collide on the sci-fi drum workout on this 7" released to celebrate Black Acre's 50th release. Two works, one on each side as you might expect. The A is a sci fi B boy stomper (it says here) whilst over on the flip, there's a psyched out dreamy soundscape. Annie Mac has bigged it up.
