Marfa Myths is a festival in Texas curated by the Mexican Summer label. There you will find all you’d expect from a festival in terms of bands playing live and such, but there are also some special events. One of those events is a recording residency. In 2017, Swedish psych rockers Dungen collaborated with Brooklyn’s alt. folk rockers, Woods. Myths 003 was the resulting LP. Liner notes from members of each band complete the package. LP on Mexican Summer.
A luxury treat for Dungen fans: this release features instrumental versions of every last track from the Swedish psychedelic crew’s Skit I Allt album (translation: ‘Screw It All’), split across five 7” vinyl records and all packed in a box along with a small poster. Strictly limited edition of 500 on Subliminal Sounds.

Well then: this. What a conundrum: the psychedelic tour-de-force that is Dungen offer up their huge jam galaxy Haxan for rework splicing by Prins Thomas, who does everything from chopping to screwing on a longlist of versions. It's a fascinating idea for a collaboration and it musters up an entirely new album, with different exploratory routes to those originally intended by the band -- think of it as mere source material for a new adventure.

Dungen haven’t released an album in five years: all the more reason to be excited by the release of the quartet’s latest, Allas Sak. Bright psychedelic pop is the order of the day, though frontman Gustav Ejstes young love for hip-hop certainly shows up in the groove this record has. Nice to hear Swedish lyrics too! On Smalltown Supersound.
Dungen’s album Häxan (their first entirely instrumental record) began as a score to the 1926 film The Adventures Of Prince Achmed, but ended up wandering off course into more abstract and witchy territory. The results are lush and super evocative. Bonus fact: the whole album was put together using only analogue tape! Released by Scandinavian sound stronghold Smalltown Supersound.
