Dungen
Dungen Live

Dungen Live doesn’t take much explaining. It’s an album capturing Swedish melodic psych-rockers Dungen live in 2015 in Gothenburg and Malmö. The album includes a guest appearance from Swedish sax legend Jonas Kullhammar. It is entirely instrumental and includes a cover of Ain’t So Hard To Tell, originally by enigmatic lost-album wonder Doug Jerebine, a contemporary of Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck.

Dungen & Woods
Myths 003

Marfa Myths is a festival in Texas curated by the Mexican Summer label. There you will find all you’d expect from a festival in terms of bands playing live and such, but there are also some special events. One of those events is a recording residency. In 2017,  Swedish psych rockers Dungen collaborated with Brooklyn’s alt. folk rockers, Woods. Myths 003 was the resulting LP. Liner notes from members of each band complete the package. LP on Mexican Summer.

Strictly limited edition of 500 on Subliminal Sounds.

Dungen
Häxan

Dungen’s album Häxan (their first entirely instrumental record) began as a score to the 1926 film The Adventures Of Prince Achmed, but ended up wandering off course into more abstract and witchy territory. The results are lush and super evocative. Bonus fact: the whole album was put together using only analogue tape! Released by Scandinavian sound stronghold Smalltown Supersound.

Ta Det Lugnt

Reissue of the third LP from Swedish psychsters Dungen here. Ta Det Lugnt received rave reviews when it first emerged in 2004 and it remains a pleasant yet potent haze of trippy rock grooves. Among all the riffage this thing also contains excursions into lounge jazz and the sort of droning organ pieces that sound great when you’re high (probably…). That Goat lot probably had Ta Det Lugnt on heavy rotation as youths.
