Sundara Karma
Ulfilas' Alphabet

Reading hipsters Sundara Karma attempt to transition from buzz band to in-it-for-the-long-haul band with sophomore LP Ulfilas’ Alphabet. The nuts and bolts of this shift are that they’ve done a Tame Impala and beefed up their arena-indie sound with some disco and that. Single ‘One Last Night On This Earth’ sounds a bit like ‘I Was Made For Loving You’ by Kiss.

Sundara Karma

Sundara Karma burst onto the scene with their Youth is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect LP (soon to be re-issued and revamped).  In the meantime they issue a limited 7" of Explore which as fun a slice of Strokes-ish, Arcade Fire ish  indie that you are likely to find dwelling in the Thames Valley.

Sundara Karma
Youth Is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect

You must have some lovely karma, to encounter such a gift on your life's travels. Some might argue that Youth Is Only Fun in Retrospect, but listening to Sundara Karma’s energetic and youthful debut album is already fun while you’re doing it. Just be ready to be bob your head and hum catchy riffs all day long.

Sundara Karma

Sundara Karma’s EPII contains 4 tracks of the band’s anthemic indie rock, the kind of thing that goes down very well at the larger rock festivals. The production is smooth, but you can hear the vocalist straining into raw intensity at certain points. Pressed to 10” vinyl in a nice shade of green, released by the Chess Club label.

Sundara Karma

Sundara Karma are a Berkshire four-piece, apparently all aged eighteen. So plenty of youthful vigour in here yes? There is indeed, although this is far from a teenage punk pour-out. Rather, Flame is a carefully considered indie tune probably designed as an ‘anthem’, with impressive sounding production. 7” single on Chess Club.
