Maybe More

Eyelids have been touring the world and elsewhere with a brand of jangly, hook laden college rock that will appeal to fans of the Byrds, R.E.M and XTC. Sounds good to us. Having got back home they went straight into the studio to record another batch of songs for public consumption and once again R.E.M grey hair Peter Buck was on board to help out.

Eyelids Meet Gary Jarman

In which Eyelids (members of Guided By Voices and Decemberists) hooked up with Gary Jarman of the Cribs for two tracks which were made especially for one of the Record Store Days. But it's not Record Store Day so presumably it's been re-issued like most RSD stuff is. Comes on yellow vinyl edition of 500.

John Moen and Chris Slusarenko have been pals for 20 years. Playing with the likes of Stephen Malkmus, Robert Pollard, Decemberists and  Elliott Smith, they only stepped out of the shadows to form Eyelids relatively recently despite a desire to write together for much longer. Or is the band’s second album and carries on where their debut left off, containing a mix of melodic, jangling sounds inspired by Big Star, XTC, the Paisley Underground scene of the early ‘80s and the legendary New Zealand indie label, Flying Nun. LP and CD on Jealous Butcher.

Eyelids is a band built around two fellows who have been involved in songwriting for some real greats (Elliott Smith! Steve Malkmus! Damien Jurado!). But this is them indulging their own personal loves: the lovely slackerish indie-rock sound of Flying Nun and the like. 854 is a fun-time listen, out on Jealous Butcher.
