Papernut Cambridge
Nutlets II (1978-2001)

Papernut Cambridge release their second album of covers to date, and its a proper job: Nutlets II contains twenty tracks, each sourced from crucial young-person memories of bandleader Ian Button. These songs have great personal weight, and you can hear that come through in Button’s re-imagining of them. Includes tunes by Throbbing Gristle, Suede and Daft Punk!

Papernut Cambridge
Outstairs Instairs

Papernut Cambridge is what former Death In Vegas guitarist Ian Button is up to these days, if any of you were wondering. The project’s first full-length since 2016 finds Button in a playful mood and roping in a number of mates including members of Rumer and Go-Kart Mozart for band duties. Outstairs Instairs claims a big influence from Hunky Dory-era Bowie, but the liberal addition of banjo and other folk instruments give it a bit of a Bright Eyes feel. The box set features some bonus beats from Button projects of yore.

Mellotron Phase: Volume 2

An exciting foray into the endless possibilities of music made on a Mellotron or “contemporary tape/disc-based playback instruments.” Who am I even kidding? Papernut Cambridge has made an album that sounds like high-resolution covers of early RPG soundtracks. And that's not a bad thing, if it's your thing. If you liked Mellotron Phase: Volume 1, you'll love Mellotron Phase: Volume 2.

Papernut Cambridge
Mellotron Phase: Volume 1

Following on from 2016’s instrumental version of their Love The Things Your Lover Loves album, Papernut Cambridge’s Ian Button has teamed up with electronic music library Ravenwood Music to produce an album of instrumentals made (almost) exclusively using sounds from original Mellotron, Chamberlin, Optigan etc tape banks.  Inspired in equal measure by King Crimson, The Herd, Brian Auger, and Keith Mansfield TV themes, Mellotron Phase: Vol 1 is being released digitally as a set of media music tracks, and as a 10” vinyl LP via Gare Du Nord Records that comes with a DL code on a reproduction vintage Mellotronics calling card.

Love The Things Your Lover Loves

Papernut Cambridge is a project helmed by Ian Button of Death In Vegas and featuring the considerable talents of Darren Hayman and Robert Rotifer among others. They do a sort of lushly orchestrated alt-chamber-pop-rock of the sort not much seen since the 70’s, and all with witty sense of flair and joy. Third album Love The Things Your Lover Loves is out on Gare Du Nord Records.

Papernut Cambridge / Luke Smith & The Feelings

The EP tweely comes with a set of badges and a pencil, on Gare du Nord Records.

There's No Underground

'There's No Underground' is the follow-up to last year's delightfully titled 'Cambridge Nutflake', a record of well-ornamented and dreamy folk music you could only definitively listen to on vinyl. Ian Button is the man behind the record, known along with his roster of contributors as Papernut Cambridge. There are a lot of nuts in this thing. On this record, Button is no longer led by the imaginary, writing a love letter of sorts to his London homeland.
