Strand Of Oaks
Pope Killdragon

Strand of Oaks second album, Pope Killdragon was originally self-released in 2010. Like the debut, Leave Ruin, released the year before, The sparse instrumentation and hard-hitting lyrics stand out. The album was produced by Ben Vehorn who put synths on the record, creating an additional, eerie atmosphere.

Strand Of Oaks
Dark Shores

Timothy Showalter, the man behind Strand Of Oaks, wrote the songs for his third album, Dark Shores, whilst touring his previous album, Pope Killdragon. This time, the songs were recorded with a full band creating a rockier sound. Showalter cited Neil Young as an influence once again. Dark Shores was produced by John Vanderslice, or ‘The Slice’ as some like to call him.

Strand Of Oaks
Leave Ruin

Leave Ruin was the debut album by Strand of Oaks, the project of Timothy Showalter. He took inspiration from a pretty good place by looking back to On The Beach-era Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen’s early years. His candid lyrics and intimate atmosphere created by the musical arrangements make for a powerful album.

Strand Of Oaks
Eraserland

Strand Of Oaks head-honcho Timothy Showalter keeps on keeping on with new LP Eraserland. As with 2017’s Hard Love the hairy heartthrob sticks to his modern-day Springsteen schtick on his latest record. Cuts like ‘Weird Ways’ have a beefy, grunge-inflected low-end to them. Eraserland is out via Dead Oceans.

Strand of Oaks
Hard Love

Soaring heartland rock here that The Boss himself would happily put his name to. Just one look at the Springsteen-esque track titles here - ‘Hard Love’, ‘Radio Kids’, ‘Salt Brothers’ and so on. The middle of those three is a great first single, expensive-sounding and stirring. Could be one of those ones to cop a first pressing of now and watch it accrue value.
