JFDR is a young and inventive Icelandic musician with a fair bit of experience in acts like Pascal Pinon and Gangly. For her solo debut she worked with Shazad Ismaily (and, on one track, Greg Fox) to create a record of eclectically textured songwriting that veers from minimal passages to elaborately fractured percussion.. Black Lights

Icelandic trio Samaris overcame great European distance to make their third album Black Lights, with the members split between The Hague, Berlin and assorted other locations. Hasn’t hindered them though: as well as bringing a touch of Berlin techno underpinning into the mix, they’ve also clarified their electronic pop ideas into something strong and catchy. On One Little Indian.

Wanted 2 Say

Samaris are an Icelandic trio who, with new single Wanted 2 Say, are going full-on dance pop. The beat is straight out of classic drum & bass, and the floaty vocal line could be from a vintage house production. But the texture of the track is also defined by a cloudy synth pattern, making for interesting results. 12” single on One Little Indian.

Silkidrangar Sessions

Silkidrangar Sessions is a new album containing re-worked tracks from Silkidrangar, the 2014 debut album by Icelandic electronic band, Samaris. A year of touring, including slots at various festivals, playing their set at different times of the day, made the band adjust songs to suit the mood at the time. This inspired the re-working of their album. The re-worked versions add elements of dub, ambient and acoustic music to their haunting-chants, beats and expansive electronica sound.
