IVVVO Vinyl, CD & tapes by IVVVO at Norman Records

The nomadic IVVVO returns to Rabit’s Halcyon Veil (700 Bliss, Chino Amobi) for the release of his third LP. Anyone familiar with the Bastet member’s previous solo work will find plenty to sink their teeth into on doG. Once again this is a set of tracks that sees IVVVO brutalising and bastardising various club, industrial and metal sonics. It kind of ends up sounding like Nine Inch Nails if they had Yves Tumor rather than Trent Reznor at the helm.

IVVVO’s Prince of Grunge is the first release from very excellent and trendy London club night and label NYX Unchained. Though not grunge in the traditional 90s flannel shirt sense, IVVVO does borrow the genre’s harshness and exploration of anxiety angst to create tracks more for the dance floor rather than Reading Festival '92.

The latest from Terrain Ahead co-founder IVVVO, Theories Of Anxiety does what it proclaims on the tin. Dream sequences and snatched glimpses of melody swoop in and out of earshot whilst a warped techno template holds the wayward compositions together. A muddy, expansive chunk of dancefloor techno from Portuguese IVVVO. Following a slew of releases on Opal Tapes he brings Light Moving to Fourth Wave, tying a rich palette of crackly sounds and dark ambient washes to a propulsive beat for a rushing club-facing sound. London producer IVVVO is so confident of the power of his heavy new track When I Feel You Wet that they have allowed it to stand alone: the B-side is a blank void. His boldness might be justified though, as the track is a pretty hammering slice of winning dark techno. Limited edition single-sided 12” on the ORO label.
