Appleblim
Avebury

Appleblim brings it with a nice new three track release on Tempa. Avebury has two fully-fledged club action rollers, propelling you along with solid kick-drums and thick basslines. 'Wandered' however is an odder thing, all about dense and tense atmospherics. 12" released in an edition of 500 copies only.

Appleblim
Conch Shell Motives

Since running Skull Disco and Apple Pips Bristolian Appleblim has moved to Berlin and had a few releases through R&S, Aus Music and Tempa merely hinting at things bubbling beneath the surface. Now he introduces his new label Beatnik Boulevard with his first release. The lines between house, electro, techno and pure bass weight getting ever more blurred Conch Shell Motives brings it for old ears and new.

Second Storey & Appleblim
Gimmie 6

Second Storey and Appleblim join forces for Gimmie 6, a high-bpm exploration of hazy synth pads, tough percussion and distorted 808 bass. This vinyl 12” is certainly techno, but made with a peculiarly English weirdness and manic-energy that makes its stand out. Pressed to wax by the legendary R&S label.

Appleblim
Minus Degree

Appleblim gets back to Tempa with a new 12”. Minus Degree starts off with a left-turn: the title track has no beats! Serious! Synths and sub bass create an uneasy soundscape, with no head-nodding of dancing to relieve you. But don’t worry, the EP’s other 2 track will give you a good time again. Edition of 300.

Appleblim & October
Other Side of The Sky

Tempa deliver this new single from October, a crucial stretch of wobbly bass music from a producer with audibly deep roots in the Bristol scene. On the B-side he receives assistance from the legendary Appleblim, who views Other Side Of The Sky from a distance, treating it with a few tricks from the dub toolbox. 300 12” copies.

Appleblim & Komon
Motion Blur

You have to be Inspector Morse to figure out what's going on with some of the dance 12"s this week. I've nailed this one, its by Appleblim and Komon though one track is by Komon and Appleblim, one is by Komon alone and another sees Appleblim do the solo thang. Here are 4 examples of their textural, granular explorations which have seen them remix the likes of Bonobo and Paul Woolford.  They mine a deep and soulful form of electronica, made for dancefloor or sitting on your own in the house.
