J Mascis
Fed Up And Feeling Strange (Live And In Person 1993-1998)

J Mascis branched out from his role in the incredibly influential Dinosaur Jr. in the mid-Nineties. This new 3xCD set ‘Fed Up And Feeling’ documents some unplugged and acoustic live performances from that time. You've got three albums here: ‘Live At CBGB’ captures Mascis’ first-ever solo show at the legendary New York venue in 1993; ‘Martin + Me’ documents his US tour of 1995; and there’s another disc capturing sundry other live recordings made up until 1998, all of which previously unreleased. In all, it’s an interesting insight into the underlying songwriting strengths of an artist usually associated with raw power.

J Mascis
Martin + Me

In the mid-90s J Mascis branched out from his role in the incredibly influential Dinosaur Jr. to make moves as a solo artist. 1996's ‘Martin + Me’ was the first solo record he released. This live album contains originals, Dinosaur Jr. standards and covers of the likes of The Smiths, Carly Simon and Lynyrd Skynyrd, all done in a pleasingly stirring anti-folk style.

Dinosaur Jr.
Hand It Over (Deluxe Expanded Edition)

Hand It Over was the final album by Dinosaur Jr before they reformed in 2005 with their original line-up. It was released in 1997 and got lost as an American rock album in the fog of Britpop. It was released on the same day as a rather marvellous EP, Take A Run At The Sun, which featured in the Alison Anders film, Grace Of My Heart. The three songs from the EP are included on this reissue. Also includes the single, I’m Insane.

Dinosaur Jr.
Without A Sound (Deluxe Expanded Edition)

Without A Sound was the 6th album by kings of slacker rock, Dinosaur Jr. It was originally released in 1994. It saw the band, or specifically J Mascis, writing shorter, more accessible songs. J Mascis, to some, will be remembered as the man who drove around New York in a golf buggy in the video of the album’s first single, Feel The Pain. It also includes the catchy single, I Don’t Think So.

Dinosaur Jr.
Where You Been (Deluxe Expanded Edition)

Where You Been was the fifth album by Dinosaur Jr. It is regarded as one of their best and by many as one of the best albums of the 1990s. It was originally released in February 1993. Upon its release, Melody Maker raised the question, “Do we have the album of the year already?” It contains one of the band’s greatest songs in Start Choppin’. The Country-grunge crossover, Get Me was also released as a single. Essential stuff.

Dinosaur Jr.
Green Mind (Deluxe Expanded Edition)

This is the one with The Wagon on it, what more do you need to know? Okay, okay, Green Mind was the 4th album by Dinosaur Jr. Released in 1991, it was the band’s first for a major label, and first after J Mascis acrimonious firing of bassist and tape experimenter, Lou Barlow. Forget the in-fighting, just put The Wagon on as loud as you can and enjoy one of the greatest earworming melodies for weeks afterwards.

J Mascis
Elastic Days

J Mascis writes a new album, a new album writes J Mascis. Elastic Days is his third solo studio LP away from the daily grind of being in Dinosaur Jr. As with previous albums Several Shades Of Why and Tied To A Star, this one finds The World's Slacker Dad focussing on the acoustic side of life. There’s a bit of a Woods vibe to numbers like ‘See You At The Movies’.

Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not

Fresh from his recent purchase of a brand new VW Golf, J Mascis returns with his legendary band to prove that he still knows as much about slacker indie rock as he does about best value family hatchbacks. There's a limited coloured vinyl edition that we presume will be just as popular as Volkswagen's flagship brand.
