Jan St. Werner
Glottal Wolpertinger

The inimitable Jan St. Werner - Mouse on Mars member, MIT lecturer, sonic dreamweaver - is back with more musical thrills to jockey. Glottal Wolpertinger comprises material produced for the documenta 14 arts event, all based on careful frequency band attunement and contextual shifts. Gorgeous droning textures, in other words.

Mouse On Mars
Synaptics

Never-ending sonic technicians Mouse On Mars recover from their 21st birthday celebrations in time to showcase this new tracker where they embrace their love of footwork, juke and chopped house music. During an open ended recording process loads of artists help them realise their dreams including Junior Boys and Sepalcure.

Jan St. Werner
Spectric Acid (Fiepblatter Catalogue #5)

Jan St. Werner, of Mouse On Mars fame, spins out on his own once more to get real abstract and ferocious with it. Spectric Acid (Fiepblatter Catalogue #5) is based on some fairly heavyweight sound science, but the important stuff you need to know is that these synthesiser compositions have been tweaked to screw with your perceptions. A delicious disorientating trip.

Jan St. Werner
Felder

Jan St. Werner (perhaps best known as a member of Mouse On Mars) has here produced an interesting slab of electroacoustics, built up from straight-up electronic sounds, physical instruments, and electronically synthesised versions of physical instruments, although it may not always be obvious which is which. Felder is a carefully textured work worthy of close investigations. On Thrill Jockey.

Jan St. Werner
Miscontinuum Album (Fiepblatter Catalogue #3)

He's one of the maestros for canonical IDM busters Mouse On Mars and a recording artist in his own right, and now Jan St. Werner has a new strand of minor electronic innovations on offer. Miscontinuum Album is an insular work of goth-influenced darkness, which uses a bedrock of electronica to blur and misshape the reality of time. Though it's a dark and lonely sounding record, it features collaborative work courtesy of Earth's riff-growler Dylan Carson, Bo Ningen's ferocious and brilliant Taigen Kawabe and Kathy Alberici. Is that enough musical proficiency for one day?
