Holden & Zimpel
Long Weekend EP

This is what we want to hear. UK electronica bod James Holden hooking up with Polish Clarinet lord Waclaw Zimpel for a series of collaborations. It all happened when the twosome got together for a week in a London studio. Joined occasionally by guitarist Jakub Ziolek, the duo and trio jammed out some blissed-out krauty journeys - an international love in between the clarinet and modular synth.

The Idiots Are Winning

The Idiots Are Winning (now there’s a sentiment that holds up well today) was the debut album by one time overlord of computer music, Holden, or James Holden, as we’ve come to know and love him. It was originally released in 2006 and contains the classic tracks Idiot, Lump, Corduroy and 10101. James Holden went on to make The Animal Spirits, No.2 in the Norman Records albums of the year in 2017.

The Inheritors

The Inheritors was (James) Holden's follow up to his much-loved 2006 debut The Idiots Are Winning. Again on Border Community it was another fruitful journey into his sound world  - an immersive swirl of sounds that takes dance music and stretches it to its outer limits. Comparisons are hard to pick out but there's something of the prism-like haze of Boards of Canada here but Holden's sound is truly all his own.
