SQÜRL
The Dead Don't Die: Original Score

SQÜRL once again team up with director Jim Jarmusch (and SQÜRL member) to score his film, The Dead Don’t Die. Putting new and original twists on well-worn horror movie tropes - the film is a take on the zombie apocalypse genre - The Dead Don’t Die could in time be viewed alongside the greats of the oeuvre.

Paterson: Original Film Score

Paterson is a film by Jim Jarmusch, and get this: the soundtrack is by him as well. Sqürl is Jim along with Carter Logan, and their previous work has leaned hard into psychedelic rock territory. Here though they take a slightly different approach in order to best serve the film, using analogue synthesisers and glass harmonicas to create a spacier atmosphere. Released by Third Man.

SQURL
Live at Third Man Records

Check this out: SQÜRL is a band with Jim Jarmusch in it! Yeah that’s right, the director with the excellent music taste can also play out himself. Live At Third Man Records is a great slab of weird-rock music, with the riffs and rhythms augmented with tapes, loops and feedbacks. On Jack White’s Third Man label.

SQÜRL
EP #260

Originally called Bad Rabbit and forming especially to create the soundtrack to Jim Jarmusch’s Limits Of Control, the three piece (that includes Jarmusch) renamed themselves SQÜRL and carried on after. With a number of releases on ATP and now on Sacred bones their strain of noisy, bluesy, instrumental avant-rock follows stoner rock’s slow pace with a crushed psychedelic edge. Limited single pressing.

SQURL
EP # 3

The third EP from NYC-based guitar slingers SQÜRL promises to contain their trademark level of stoner/doom fuzz distortion as well as (apparently) horror-country overtones on ATP's label. I guess you can try to imagine the sonic equivalent of a farmer being eaten by his horse, all pressed onto a 12" picture disc.
