Experience Hendrix: The Best Of Jimi Hendrix

Which is the best Jimi Hendrix album? Probably this one as it contains all the best of his songs including 'Crosstown Traffic', 'All Along the Watchtower' and 'Foxy Lady'. Anyway if you are new to the guitar maestro then this would be a good place to start. They've spread it across a double album too.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Are You Experienced

Classic rock doesn’t come much more classic than an album that features Purple Haze, Hey Joe and The Wind Cries Mary. The Jimi Hendrix Experience (the band that featured none other that Jimi Hendrix on guitar and vocals) announced themselves to the world with their debut Are You Experienced in 1967 and blew the socks off everyone that heard it. It still has that effect, as you will find out when you buy it….

The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Electric Ladyland - 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition

Jimi Hendrix and his Experience released their last studio album Electric Ladyland an entire half of a century ago. Any of the 321 pressings of this album archived on Discogs that you may have are now obsolete because here’s the ultimate, the one to reign supreme... at least till the 51st Anniversary. Freshly remastered and buffed with early versions and other unheard studio outtakes, a bluray documentary, a 48-page colour booklet with lyrics, poetry and essays, and, ohhh yes, the 5.1 surround version of the album we all need. It also sports the cover art that Jimi actually originally wanted, so that’s a plus as well.

Jimi Hendrix
Morning Symphony Ideas

Rare latter day explorations by Jimi Hendrix, recorded in 1969 with Billy Cox and Buddy Miles. Morning Symphony Ideas is Hendrix vibing in much funkier directions than you might be used to from his Experience years. Three tracks for you to enjoy on this 10” release, which is pressed to translucent yellow vinyl

The Jimi Hendrix Experience
Electric Ladyland

Hendrix on 180 gram! Yes, you heard correctly. This double LP vinyl package has been lovingly put together by the Voodoo Chile's down at Legacy. You don't want to get stuck in Cross Town Traffic and miss this one. You don't need even need to go All Along The Watch Tower, but you do need to snap it up quickly. It's Jimi, it's Electric Ladyland - what more can I say baby?

Hendrix
Band Of Gypsys

The last full-length recording by the obscure and unpopular Jimi Hendrix. This was Hendrix's first recording without The Experience giving him the chance to test his genius in a different context. Don't worry, his guitar playing is as searing as always. Worth it if only to hear Hendrix wish you a Happy New Year 1970.

Jimi Hendrix
Both Sides Of The Sky

Excuse me while I listen to this guy! Both Sides of the Sky is a baker’s dozen of recordings that ol’ Jimi Hendrix cut between 1968 and 1970. The majority have never previously seen the light of day. This album the trio of deep-cuts LPs that also includes Valleys of Neptune and People, Hell & Angels. Stephen Stills appears on ‘$20 Fine’ and ‘Woodstock’.

Jimi Hendrix
Lover Man

Forty seven years after his untimely death, guitar ace Jimi Hendrix returns with a new album "Both Sides Of The Sky" and this accompanying single which comes backed with a 1967 live rendition of 'Foxy Lady'  - a track title I'm trying to translate I'm trying to translate for a post PC world into something like "Highly Attractive Person".

Jimi Hendrix
Stone Free / Lover Man

We hate to break it to you, but he's still dead. But that doesn’t mean he can’t bring out new singles, right? Jimi Hendrix recorded Stone Free in 1969, but the recording was never released properly - until now. The other A-side is a 1970 recording of Lover Man, which steps in a more funky direction than we're used to. Both songs feature Billy Cox on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums.

Machine Gun: The Fillmore East 12/31/1969 (First Show)

This particular performance at The Fillmore East 12/31/1969 has never previously been fully released, even though it is a rare document of Jimi Hendrix’s Band Of Gypsys. Needless to say, the playing is top of the line from Hendrix and co., and the recording quality, newly mixed by Hendrix’s long-term recording engineer Eddie Kramer, is high-grade. CD / 2LP on Sony.
