Nadia Sirota Vinyl, CD & tapes by Nadia Sirota at Norman Records
Tessellatum is the title of the new album by Nadia Sirota, who performs violin on the film soundtrack, composed by Donnacha Dennehy. All fifteen string parts were played by Nadia, with Liam Byrne on viola. Recording took place at Greenhouse Studios in Iceland. The film and music play with the idea of man versus nature. Intriguingly, timbres and textures alternate between manmade systems and nature's own resonances, working in harmony. LP / CD on Bedroom Community.
Modern classical wunderkind Nico Muhly has written a full-blown viola concerto, recorded here by violist Nadia Sirota with the backing of The Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Apparently Keep In Touch was designed to challenge the performer into engaging with their weaknesses (mean Mr Muhly), but Sirota’s performance of the piece sounds perfect to these ears. On Bedroom Community.
