Snapped Ankles
Stunning Luxury

Following on from their rather good Come Play the Trees album, London avant groove-sters Snapped Ankles are back with an album that appears to be a concept album about the property industry. A record to soundtrack the constant threat of developers perhaps but these are fun guys with many moments of memorable scuzz under their belts and Stunning Luxury should see them develop further.

Snapped Ankles
Violations

A four-track EP of cover versions originally released for Record Store Day in 2018, Violations is quite an apt name for these drastically different takes as Snapped Ankles take on Can, The Fugs, Joey Beltram and The Comateens in ways you never previously imagined. This re-issue is on white vinyl, with a download code.

Snapped Ankles
Come Play The Trees

Snapped Ankles are a London group making their full-length debut right here and right now on The Leaf Label. The band apparently love to play shows while dressed up as trees, but you can’t really hear the foliage on these recordings. You’ll have to make do with chunky-funky synthesiser lines and fuzzy guitar melodies instead. Come Play The Trees is released by The Leaf Label.

Snapped Ankles
The Best Light Is The Last Light

Bizarre woodland creatures-slash-post-punk noise mongers Snapped Ankles sign with The Leaf Label, presenting their first physical release.  Delving into cinema as of late their tracks have taken an almost chase scene-like quality, hyper energised mixing the driving arpeggiator-like pulse of Apparat Organ Quartet, dead toned vocals akin to early Gary Numan with a motorik backbone.

I Want My Minutes Back

Of course, buying Snapped Ankles on vinyl is missing out on their performances - or is it getting ready for them? I Want my Minutes Back is both a catchy piece of electropop and a noisy, subversive experiment. The 2015 edition being slightly faster than the original, it’s all just a little more messed up, and will have you moving just a bit more frantically.
