Ry Cooder
Paris Texas (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Wim Wenders, Harry Dean Stanton and Ry Cooder converged together in 1984 on the film Paris, Texas, one of the finest works in all three of their individual catalogues. Cooder’s original music, presented here on purple vinyl, is incredibly evocative with only the sparsest of ingredients. Blind Willie Johnson fans should find plenty to enjoy here too. A classic soundtrack.

Ry Cooder
The Prodigal Son

Ry Cooder returns to his roots and the roots of American music on The Prodigal Son. He tells a story of a hopeful America through covers of gospel acts such as The Pilgrim Travellers, bluegrass duo, The Stanley Brothers and blues evangelist Blind Willie Johnson. There are also a few original compositions thrown in for good measure. His son, Joachim, adds loops, samples and soundscapes to give the old time music a fresh, modern feel. 180g LP and CD on Concord.

Ali Farka Toure with Ry Cooder
Talking Timbuktu

A Grammy award winning album which was number 1 in the US World Music Charts for 31 weeks, Talking Timbuktu by Ali Farka Toure, who has been a hot ticket for any fans of so-called “world music”, and Ry Cooder, the American guitarist known for his slide guitar, is an album which combines the two perfectly - it’s Africa with a hillbilly influence. Lovely stuff. A limited 180g vinyl 2 LP.
