Dennis Young
Bella

Dennis Young was a founding member of excellent post-punk/avant funk band Liquid Liquid but has long pursued a solo career. He's not released any material in over fifteen years so this new batch of recordings is highly anticipated. Expect percussive instrumental experiments that take something from his earlier work but push into new directions. Just 300 copies of this on clear vinyl.

Dennis Young
Primitive Substance

Dennis Young began work on the Primitive Substance LP with Andy Gomory in the second half of the 1980’s, laying down basic tracks at Gomory’s studio in New Jersey. Over the next fifteen-odd years the ex-Liquid Liquid fellow Young continued to expand the material, bringing in various guests to build on the vaguely fourth-world-ish rhythm tracks he’d laid down with Gomory. The resulting record, only now getting a release through Athens Of The North (J.O.B. Band, Brief Encounter), is a funny mix of New Age grooves and jazz-fusion techniques. Think My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts.

Dennis Young (Liquid Liquid)
Reel To Real

An archive collection of rare and unreleased solo recordings from Dennis Young. Known as the percussionist for Liquid Liquid, this set of sixteen tracks compiles his out of band experiments between '82-83. There’s a homely feel to the recordings, thanks perhaps to Young recording them at home. Just a guess. It's understandably heavy on the drums. Out on CD & vinyl LP from Staubgold.

Wave: Electronic Music 1984-1988

Dennis Young is part of Liquid Liquid, meaning that his place in the electronic musician's history books is already assured (they provided the backbone to Grandmaster Flash’s ‘White Lines’). But as a solo artist he also embarked his own shimmering electronic explorations, first released as cassettes in the 80’s and now reissued here as Wave: Electronic Music, thanks to Bureau B!
