Sinkane
Dépaysé

Sinkane has taken a more confrontational approach to his latest album, Dépaysé. The album tells of the difficulties immigrants have under the Trump administration. Sinkane describes it as being loud and raw. Judging by lead single Everybody, he’s mixed soul power and North-African rock to create an emotive and powerful sound. LP and CD on City Slang.

Sinkane
Life & Livin’ It

Here’s the third album from Sinkane, the extremely funky outfit led by Ahmed Gallab, who you might also have seen touring William Onyeabor’s music in The Atomic Bomb Band recently. Life & Livin’ It can be seen as part of the same continuum, bringing rich Afro-soul into a shiny pop context. Out on City Slang.

Sinkane
Mean Love

With roots in the rich musical history of North America as well as Africa, Sinkane provide a new perspective on what Soul Music is, and what it can be. Sinkane’s Mean Love rolls like an emotional, existential history of the artist. Ahmed Gallab has created an altogether unique compound of sound, stylistically nostalgic and ultramodern at the same time. From Gallab’s childhood in Sudan there is a Pan-African influence of popular Sudanese music and haqibah, as well as distinct horn and synth arrangements more common to East Africa.
