Deadbeat
LPs 2002-2005

LPs 2002-2005 collects together the early work of techno long stay Deadbeat. Focusing on the work of the Canadian producer that predates his move to dub techno's Berlin epicentre, this massive 6-vinyl box set collects together his most iconic Montreal moments. The collection beautifully demonstrates his evolving production prowess and guides you through a period of crackling post Basic Channel optimism. Heavyweight collection of dubbed dancefloor evolution.

Deadbeat & Camara
Trinity Thirty

Languid dream-folksters Cowboy Junkies released their trickling classic The Trinity Sessions in 1988. To celebrate the thirty-year anniversary, Deadbeat (Scott Monteith) & (Fatima) Camara, both Canadian Berliners, have covered the the whole thing for your neo-nostalgic listening pleasure. Sounds like electronic slowcore.

Deadbeat
Waking Life

While Scott Monteith aka Deadbeat is more than capable of making dub techno explorations, sometimes it's fun to make something simple and effective. That approach lead Monteith to creating Waking Life an album whose main purpose is to get things heated at your local dub techno club night. On BLKRTZ.

Deadbeat
Walls & Dimensions

Walls & Dimensions is, like the Sunn O))) album it’s title reminds me of, something of a pinnacle to Deadbeat’s work. Eight tracks (spread over a DJ-friendly three vinyl records) including cello from Maarten Vos and vocals from Fink and Delhia de France, this album on BLKRTZ is a rich masterpiece of techno and other electronic forms.

Deadbeat
Wax Poetic For This Our Last Resolve

The tenth LP from Canadian electronic composer Deadbeat sees Scott Monteith searching for resolve and companionship in troubling times. Monteith reached out to friends like Gudrun Gut and Mike Shannon, asking them to send him messages of hope. He then interpreted them aurally, making the words he received the centrepiece of each track on this album of experimental techno. The resulting LP is a wise, heartwarming statement.

Deadbeat
The Rotten Roots EP

Two new tracks from Deadbeat on this here The Rotten Roots EP. As a Berlin resident, techno is obviously present here, but Deadbeat does a good job of swerving away from the straightforward genre approach, instead choosing to dub it up nicely. Edition of 300 marbled vinyl 12”s, circulated by Echocord Colour.

15 Years With Echocord

These guys have been pumping their spacey, classy, echoing electronica out of Copenhagen for a decade and a half now. With this landmark comes ‘15 Years With Echocord’, a behemoth of a comp. Fluxion, Arovane, and co cycle their hypnotic beats and resonating frequencies through the dub chamber. Time flies. Double vinyl LP or CD.

Deadbeat
Walls and Dimensions II

With beats this lively, perhaps Deadbeat is not the most accurate name. Thumping through your speakers, Walls and Dimensions II showcases increasingly complex beats and melodies. Building and releasing tension, this 12” will capture your attention. Just wait until the vocals kick in and let yourself go.

Deadbeat
Walls and Dimensions I

What started as an exercise in working within the restraints of an extensive travel schedule, necessitating the ritual of  ‘the daily drone’ (the collecting of field recordings and experimenting with improvised software synthesis) was transformed into a cathartic exercise in contemplation following the death of a loved one giving these already meditative, mindful drones a powerful emotional gravity.

Deadbeat & Paul St Hilaire
The Infinity Dub Sessions

Some genre affirming expansions from Deadbeat & Paul St Hilaire. The Infinity Dub Sessions are eight delicious tracks from this legendary pair. This one is a testament to dub through the ages, with Deadbeat (aka Scott Monteith) supplying the effortless grooves, echoes and dubs, and Hilaire letting lose his liquid flow over this tasty delights. Out on vinyl LP vinyl and CD from BLKRTZ.
