Kassel Jaeger
Le Lisse Et Le Strié

New work from Kassel Jaeger, aka Francois Bonnet, aka the bossman at INA-GRM and therefore a serious practitioner of the electroacoustic. Le Lisse et le Strie has a conceptual framework to it, but it also just sounds fantastic, with a whole rich world of sonic interaction bubbling away under there. Experience this on Latency.

Oren Ambarchi, Kassel Jaeger, James Rushford
Face Time

Another collaboration for Black Truffle between intrepid sound manipulators Oren Ambarchi, Kassel Jaeger and James Rushford. Like its predecessor, Face Time comes on splendid coloured vinyl (neon orange this time) and boasts cover design from Stephen O)))’Malley. The trio produce seductively serene sonic fields, with murmuring textures, quiet harmonics and crumbled, wiry dub rhythms.

Kassel Jaeger
Aster

New work from electroacoustic orienteer Kassel Jaeger, whose recent collaborations with the likes of Oren Ambarchi and Jim O'Rourke have proved immensely meditative despite using disparate means and timbres. This record for Editions Mego consists of reworks and offers a more darkened and metallic take on his recent ambient forays.

Kassel Jaeger & Jim O'Rourke
Wakes On Cerulean

Not many have an output like Jim O’Rourke, with over a hundred albums and a collaborations list even longer. Wakes On Cerulean is his teaming up with french electroacoustic composer François Bonnet/Kassel Jaeger. The driving force behind the record being electronic processing and techniques, the results are glorious and harmonious ambience, intangible melodies and manipulated field recordings where the sources become completely obscured.

Pale Calling

Oren Ambarchi is back on the collaborations wagon again, this time with James Rushford and Kassel Jaeger. Pale Calling was recorded in the GRM studios in Paris, and it seems the musicians played to the space: this is a slip-sliding concréte extravaganza, with subtle electronics, field recordings and all sorts of other materials creating a beguiling atmosphere. On Ambarchi’s Black Truffle label.

Kassel Jaeger, Stephan Mathieu, Akira Rabelais
Zauberberg

Zauberberg is of course the original German title of Thomas Mann’s magnum opus The Magic Mountain. This album is the result of the 3 artists involved making recordings of the area Mann was writing about, and processing their results. Kassel Jaeger, Akira Rabelais and Stephen Mathieu all have major electroacoustic credentials, and so this is an excellent piece of ambience.
