Where The Gods Are In Peace

Large Brooklyn based collective Antibalas release their sixth full length studio album. Taking their blueprint from Fela Kuti and having members of Afrika 70 and Egypt 80 perform with them several times, they are keeping afrobeat very much alive and striving to update it with modern influences from hip hop, jazz, funk, and dub. Vinyl comes with download code, on Daptone.

Les Yper Sound
Explorations In Drums & Sax

Les Yper Sound, presumably named after the Stereolab song, are a sub-group of Afrobeat crew Antibalas, featuring two members spinning off into their own thing. Explorations In Drums & Sax travels far and wide in an eclectic bonanza of groovy fun sounds. Pressed to coke bottle-clear vinyl and released by Figure & Ground.

Tattletale Pts. 1 & 2

Brooklyn-based Afrobeaters Antibalas have a new single here on Daptone featuring a single lengthy track spread over two sides. 'Tattletale' is a slinky number inspired by the Ethio-jazz of people like Mulatu Astatke, full of lolloping polyrhythms and smoky melodies as the focus is passed methodically around the group in a series of nimble solos and synchronised melodic blasts.
