Scientist Meets The Crazy Mad Professor
At Channel One

Jamaican dub producers love meeting other Jamaican dub producers and so here is a re-issued document of the time Scientist hooked up with Crazy Mad Professor (not the other Mad Professor we know from collaborations with Massive Attack but a *really* crazy one). Both learnt at the mantle of King Tubby and here pitch their production skills against each other which sees both up their game and produce some of their best work. Classic dub cuts.

Scientist
Heavyweight Dub Champion

King Tubby protege, Scientist began working with one of the most prolific and influential producers in reggae music, Henry “Junjo” Lawes when he was just twenty years old. Together they produced the masterpiece that is ‘Heavyweight Dub Champion’ which is a playful party grover with a plethora of Pac-Man, cartoon like special effects and sound samples layered masterfully into a coherent and complete sounding dub tapestry.

Scientist & Prince Jammy
Scientist & Prince Jammy Strike Back

Classic 1982 LP from Prince Jammy and Scientist here which originally came out on Trojan Records. If those names aren’t marks of quality then we don’t know what are. The cosmic aesthetic of Scientist and Jammy Strike Back! ushers the artists into interesting sonic wormholes. Even by their standards, the clattering percussion and spacey mixing are pretty out there on these ten tracks.

Scientist
Meets The Space Invaders

One of four Scientist reissues being put out by Dub Mir. This one takes on a space theme, sprinkling cosmic noises on top of the classic echoing dub sound that Scientist has indisputably mastered. Available on both CD and Vinyl LP, though the gorgeous Marvel-style cover might be enough to persuade you to go with the LP on this occasion.

My my, a brand new album from the legendary dub innovator Scientist. The Untouchable features an enviable array of reggae talents old and new, from Ilhame Paris and Da Real Storm to Tippa Irie and Kelli Love. This material goes as deep and delicious as you’d want from a Scientist record, successfully overviewing a whole genre. Out on Dub Mir.

Scientist
Rids The World Of The Evil Curse Of The Vampires

Anybody who had a wasted youth playing Grand Theft Auto III no doubt has large sections of this album burnt into their mind, so listening to it is sure to be a nostalgic experience. But there’s far more to Scientist’s most famous album than nostalgia - it’s beats, bass and bleeps made years before Warp, and with stunningly ridiculous horror sound bites to boot.

Wins The World Cup

A bottomless hot pot from Scientist. Wins The World Cup is a record jammed with all the legendary producers characteristics; classic dub echo, raw guitars and melodious keyboard riffs. It's also got cowbells, and loads of wonky percussion. Maybe with this repress Jamaica can smash the Russian World Cup -- watch out Putin! It's out on vinyl LP and CD from Dub Mir.

Watch This! Dubbing at Tuff Gong

Tough Gong was the recording centre named for Bob Marley, and you can just imagine the kind of dub havoc that the legendary Scientist would wreak in such a place. Watch This!
