Randomer
HS002

After collaborating with Clouds for the first Headstrong Records drop Randomer goes solo on the Dutch label’s second release. HS002 sees Randomer doing what he does best - serving up club tackle of serious heft. ‘Fat Purple Figs’, ‘Stigma’ and ‘Sylo’ are monstrous DJ tools that are a hair’s breadth away from going full-blown industrial techno. Closer ‘Hidden’ is similar but also has a bit of a ‘90s hardcore thing going on. Cracking stuff.

Randomer
Slicing

Here we find Randomer return to Dekmantel’s UFO Series for the latest set of his particularly brain-bending brand of soundsystem techno. The four dubs on Slicing all go equally hard, but in subtly different ways. For instance: while opener ‘Van Pelt’ recalls a toughened-up version of Cervo’s Afro-Disco, ‘Shadow Harp’ features a pummelling kick pattern that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Beneath tune.

Hodge & Randomer
If I Could Stop

What tunes! Two tracks from the powerful duo of Hodge & Randomer, both stamping their mark on the wax (and the dancefloor) with fun pummelling rollers. But wait, there’s more! Each track is accompanied by a remix, one by Tyrell Serge and one by Kowton, adding an extra perspective on the chunky goodness. 12” on Clone Basement Series.

Voiski / Randomer / Toulouse Low Trax / Gilb'r
Dekmantel 10 Years 07

Amsterdam powerhouse Dekmantel continues to flex its pecs with the latest in its 10-year anniversary series. Voiski’s “Time As A River” trickles out a spread of bleeps and pulses over a submerged kick drum, while Randomer scuffs up the broken techno template in a style that would sit right on Ilian Tape. Toulouse Low Trax has some of that Dusseldorf voodoo to impart on “Crash”, and Gilb’r gets into deep and trippy exotica house for “The Triangle”.

Smokin

Under the curious moniker of Randomer, London-dwelling producer Rohan Walder has added to his sizeable discography with the release of 3-track floor-filler - Smokin. This fresh cut continues an evolution through post-dubstep, house and broken-beat. Now nearly 10 years in the game, this is a beat-maker heading - slowly-but-surely - towards greatness.

Randomer / Clouds
HS001

Sparse on the details and letting their first release do its own rounds, new label Headstrong is the brainchild of raucous techno outfit Clouds. In player-manager style they here also make an appearance on HS001, backing up the record fronted by the irreplaceable lord of stern dance, Randomer. An exciting new project to be sure.

Randomer
Running Dry

If you launch a series called DKMNTL UFO, you better bring some stranger stuff to the table. Randomer doesn’t disappoint with this EP, which skips along on a bed of sampled African percussion and some chunky rolling basslines. Definitely a touch of alien abstraction in the midst of these 4 tracks as well though. Running Dry is released by Dekmantel.

Perc + Randomer
Igneous

First collaboration between Perc Trax main man Perc and Randomer. Industrialised and mechanical techno beats that push over to industrial forms but hold back enough to remain club focused. These three tracks push you but are clear and groovy enough to dance to. The kick on Flooring is particularly hellish.

Randomer
Kid's Play

Randomer obviously had fun making Kid’s Play, a neat little five-track 12” set on L.I.E.S. He seems to have purged out any sound that isn’t percussive: the melody, bassline, and any other flourishes are sourced from drums. This is therefore a super rhythmic listen, enough to put you in a total dancefloor trance.

Russian Torrent Versions 10

There are three new tracks on offer here from sought after dubstep/drum and bass producer Randomer, also known as Rohan Walder. 'Side Crack Lung' is the choice cut, featuring a repeated vocal sample, a firm, pounding beat and some acoustic percussion that gives the track its gravitas half way through. There's also the more straight-and-narrow techno of 'Fun In The Sun' and the off-kilter, scattershot and highly percussive 'Odd'.    Tracks: Side Crack Lung  Fun In The Sun  Odd
