Not content with rending d&b in twain on Uncertain Hour’s first record, serial ‘Amen Break’-botherer Sully is back with another brain-bending jungle two-track. If you like your beats broken and your bass subby we suggest you hot-foot it to the nearest listening booth and give both ‘Porcelain’ and ‘Run’ a spin.
While this one may have emerged on a new imprint with the name Uncertain Hour, there is nothing uncertain about the latest release from Sully. The label, run by the man himself, promises ‘all Sully productions, all jungle'. On both ‘Vacancy’ and ‘Digitalis’, Uncertain Hour delivers on that promise. More snare drums than you could ever dream of.
Hot on the heels of his 'Escape' 2LP for Keysound Recordings, Sully aka Jack Stevens launches a coupla rockets in the form of a limited edition 10-inch for Bedouin Records off-shoot label Bastakiya Tapes. The wailing, futuristic, digital bashment/dancehall of 'Untitled o1' is up top. meanwhile, the twisted hardcore/jungle mutant 'Stripes On A Tiger Don't Wash Away' lurks underneath.
There’s no need to be downhearted kids, Sully is back with a double 12” jungle release. Catering to our needs for classic '90s jungle and breakbeats, this’ll be another banger filled with sweet breaks, surprisingly fresh synths and all of it coated in non stop energy. Blue is such a pretty color.
Sully (Innasekt) returns to Dusk and Blackdown’s Keysound label with his second full length. Hard hitting future grime sounds mesh with classic UK garage and sliced up jungle palettes, from straight up amen blits, to sparse and heavily swung grooves to dramatic dronescapes. Features tracks with Jendor and Jamakabi (Roll Deep).
UK underground producer Sully lands on Bristol’s Black Acre label for the first time with a suitably skanked and paranoid sound. The 3 tracks of Vamp is as much instrumental grime as it is bass-junglist, and the tone is wired and spacious throughout. Pretty crucial materials for the more forward-thinking dancefloors out there. Fine-cut 12”.
Garage, dubstep and all-round UK dance music expert Sully turns his hand to jungle on Lifted/Rotten. This vinyl 12” on Rua Sound has three tracks of rolling, dark drum programming and razor sharp sample manipulation. Sam Binga is on remix duties and slows the tempo for an almost industrial dub re-imagining.
