Siinai Vinyl, CD & tapes by Siinai at Norman Records
Siinai are one of the most interesting contemporary bands coming out of Finland right now, and they just gifted the world with their third album, titled Sykli. The group inhabit the rich tradition of synth-prog-psychedelic music, with arpeggiated electronics mixing with post-rocky instrumental structures, building up some fairly epic tracks for listeners to lose themselves in. Sykli is released by Svart.
Wolf Parade were Vancouver's banner indie rock band, crafting a melodrama in three parts through 'Apologies to the Queen Mary', 'At Mount Zoomer' and 'Expo 86'. After their dissolution, guitarist Dan Boeckner stormed through creative projects such as Operators and Handsome Furs, while synth-yelper Spencer Krug formed solo act Moonface, a place to hedge his experimental bets. The band are back together, but Krug's got another record up his sleeve: 'My Best Human Face' is the second time he's employed Krautrock band Siinai as his backing band, and you can expect them to fan the fire on Krug's usually melancholy songs.
