The Rebel
Riding In The Sun / Why Must I Pay

Country Teasers mainman Ben Wallers is also The Rebel, and it is under this guise that he does some of his most fascinating work. Outsider punk that peels the genre apart and shows you some of its guts and contradictions. Here The Rebel presents two tracks on a seven inch single on Jack White’s Third Man.

The Stallion
The Dark Side Of The Wall

The Stallion is comprised of Country Teasers Ben Wallers and Alastair Mackinven. Their first release is nothing less than a massive triple LP expansion of Pink Floyd’s The Wall. It’s often remarkably faithful, despite being built from rougher and darker materials. That’s not to deny that Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2) sounds like Paul Leary letting loose over an early Cabaret Voltaire demo, and I don’t recall Roger Waters’ version of Puddin. Even when things get to Residents levels of deconstruction, the spirit of the original is maintained.

Country Teasers
Science Hat Artistic Cube Moral Nosebleed Empire

Science Hat Artistic Cube Moral Nosebleed Empire is a weighty compilation of the works of Country Teasers, some mad old mixed-up guys playing all sorts of guitar-based weirdness. This collection gathers up all sorts of obscure and unreleased stuff, and pours them into the shape of either 20 songs on CD or 40(!) on double vinyl. On In The Red.

Country Teasers
Destroy All Human Life

Edinburgh’s Country Teasers released their third album, the ambitiously-titled Destroy All Human Life in 1999. It finds them cutting back on the explosive mess of their earlier sound, allowing the cutting lyrics of Ben Waller and the alt-country musicianship to shine through clearly. Includes a Tammy Wynette cover! First-time vinyl issuing, on Fat Possum.

Live at Power Lunches Arts Cafe

Recorded live in an intimate cafe basement in Dalston, London, this is a limited release of the Country Teasers' last gig to date. An esoteric gem of a group that clearly influenced the likes of the Fat White Family.  The band deliver a solid set to an attentive audience with some amusing interactions between tracks.  Self released vinyl LP.
