Titanic Rising

Winning the award for most confusing, convoluted press release of the decade is the new album from Weyes Blood. It turns out her fourth album is influenced by things as disparate as Bob Seger, madrigal choirs, Hoagy Carmichael and scholar Joseph Campbell. It's also influenced by the Titanic -  a boat which sunk once. Her last album was just great so here's hoping those array of influences allow something equally magical here.

Weyes Blood is the project of multi-instrumentalist Natalie Mering who earned her stripes with experimental noise-rockers Jackie-O Motherfucker. Her haunted folk template is imbued with influences from Terry Riley to Sybille Baer and writer Anais Nin. Mering recorded Cardamom Times at her home studio at Rockaway Beach in New York using a range of vintage and contemporary instruments.

Front Row Seat To Earth

Front Row Seat To Earth is the new album by Weyes Blood, the solo recording project of Natalie Mering from Jackie O Mutherfucker. The album recalls the the US west coast folk sound of the ‘70s, artists such as Esra Mowhawk. The live band feel is contrasted with a clever use of electronics. The album was produced by Chris Cohen who has played with the likes of Cass McCombs and Ariel Pink as well as releasing a couple of solo albums.

Southeastern Pennsylvania's Natalie Mering, aka Natalie Wiseblood from Jackie O Motherfucker, aka Weyes Bluhd, aka Weyes Blood, has a second Weyes Blood album following 2011's now-sold-out effort on Not Not Fun. Expect mystical folk-pop warblings with haunting, primitive backing and full-voiced but wistful vocals.
