Causa Sui
Return To Sky

Spaced-out krautrock impressions from Causa Sui. They bring the tight loops and grooves of a minimal rock group, but add in some slowed down stoner freak-outs. Return to Sky on El Paraiso Records is unapologetically psychedelic, full of heavy riffing, massive drums and surreal breakdowns that sound like something borrowed from Ennio Morricone.

Causa Sui
Euporie Tide

Danish psych-rockers, Causa Sui, have built a loyal fan base since 2005. This is due to some sensational live shows and praise from the like of Arch Drude, Julian Cope, and Uncut and Mojo magazines. Their sound draws on influences as widespread as electric-era Miles Davis, Allman Brothers Band and Can. Euporie Tide is their third album and was originally released in 2013.

Causa Sui
Live in Copenhagen

Oh how I bet our Ian wishes he could have been there. Two performances from the approaching legendary Euro-kraut group Causa Sui at release parties for albums in 2013 and 2016. As they rarely play live this is the opportunity to catch them in their element, stretching and twisting their songs out of all recognition.

Causa Sui
Live At Freak Valley

Don’t you think we have a shortage of serious psychedelic jamming bands nowadays? Because that’s what Causa Sui thought, and they’re pretty darn serious about alleviating our troubles. This professionally mastered live album, with 9 tracks on 2 discs (even on CD!) will deliver great bang for your buck.

Complete with fresh packaging from El Paraiso, Vol. 3 includes the swirling heat-haze of ‘Venice By the Sea’.

Jakob Skøtt
Instrumentality

Recorded after the presumably rather scary experience of leaking brain fluid, here’s Causa Sui drummer and Dane Jakob Skøtt’s latest for El Paraiso. Mainly the sounds of drums and synths, it’s riffy, jazzy, groovy and electro-y with jerking polyrhythms, muscular production and a nice cover designed by the chap himself.

Causa Sui
Free Ride

Free Ride by Causa Sui is a modern psych-rock classic that has been out of print for ten years out of the eleven that it’s been alive. It was the second album by the Danish outfit who feature Jonas Munk, who remastered this for reissue, among their ranks. The album rocks like a lorry full of bricks in a similar way to Blue Cheer, Black Sabbath, Mudhoney and Kyuss but also showcases the more contemplative side of psychedelia on the title track.  Double vinyl LP or CD with 20-minute live bonus track on El Paraiso Records.

Causa Sui
Vibraciones Doradas

Danish psych rock stoners, Causa Sui are rounding off their sort-of-trilogy of albums with a mini album, Vibraciones Doradas, Spanish for Golden Vibrations. It follows on from 2013’s Euporie Tide and 2016’s Return To The Sky. Their influences range from fusion-era Miles Davis, Krautrock groups such as Can and Popol Vuh, the dusty blues rock of The Allman Brothers and Aussie psych rockers Tame Impala. Available on mint green coloured vinyl LP and CD.

Astral TV
Crystal Shores

Rasmus Rasmussen usually plays all the electronic trinkets keeping Causau Sui proggified, acting as their warlock of the synth and keeping things adequately weird. Along with Keith Canisius they make an aging, dusty sound in tribute to the kosmische sound of old, which has found new life in the droning realms of Steve Hauschildt and Mind Over Mirrors. Crystal Shores does much the same in implying invisible rhythm in stilled environments.
