Causa Sui Vinyl, CD & tapes by Causa Sui at Norman Records
Not just your average stoner rock band, Denmark's Causa Sui are much much more than that, a psychedelic supergroup of sorts being as all the members have their own personal projects outside of Causa Sui, in particular the multi instrumentalist and one man ambient machine Jonas Munk (Manual/Billow Observatory) alongside fellow Danes Jakob Skøtt (Limp), Rasmus Rasmussen (Aerosol) and Jess Kahr. Heavily influenced by stoner riff monsters like Kyuss, Fu Manchu and classic rock like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, add to this a few microdots of LSD and drive out to the Nevada desert to find your inner self, Causa Sui would be the perfect soundtrack to that roadtrip.
With 5 studio albums, multiple sessions and 2 live albums Causa Sui's music is all about the power of the riff and the ability to take that riff wherever the hell they want, switching from groove to wig out and back again over the course of mostly 15-20 minute pieces pulling in elements of prog-rock (Yes/Pink Floyd), krautrock (Can/Neu!) and late sixties Woodstock style psychedelia often incorporating additional saxophone into the mix courtesy of Johan Riedenlow, key releases include the sprawling 3 volume Summer Sessions and the tripped out desert rock of 2016's Return To Sky.
