Idlewild
Interview Music

One of the very few bands with not one but two members named Rod, Idlewild have come a long way since their punk rock beginnings. The Scottish band are very adept and marrying their highlands heritage with a kind of widescreen poetic rock music that has garnered lots of comparisons to R.E.M. Here they are with their first since 2015's Everything Ever Written and shows them still as inspired as ever.

Idlewild
100 Broken Windows

100 Broken Windows is the second album from Scottish guitar slingers Idlewild. This was the one when they got nearest to perfecting their take on '90s guitar rock. There's a huge REM influence in both Roddy Woomble's nasal twang and in their plaintive melodies but these lads are also as loud and powerful as any grunge band.

Idlewild
Hope Is Important

Reissue of Scottish rockers Idlewild’s 1998 debut, Hope Is Important. The bare bones of a band figuring themselves out and laying messy, chaotic and raw foundations for a fruitful future. An early journey for the band in emo indulgences and raucous guitar-thrashing. Peak noisy nineties stuff. 180g reissue on Music On Vinyl.

The Deluder

Saddled with a name only one letter away from 'Womble' the Idlewild frontman has had to work hard for his credibility. Here he unleashes his fourth solo album which carries on the sometimes REM-ish sound of his former band with a new batch of atmospheric slightly off kilter independent guitar rock.

Listen To Keep

Third solo album from Idlewild frontman Roddy Woomble. Now a prominent figure on the British folk scene, it's fair to say Woomble has all but abandoned his rock roots. Debut album My Secret Is My Silence (2006) resided at the top of the UK folk charts for several weeks and was widely acclaimed. Listen To Keep follows on from the first two releases and will not disappoint fans. It's also the first Woomble record to be released on vinyl. 180g vinyl it is too.
