Charles Bradley
Changes

Charles Bradley, the Screaming Eagle of Soul, began his incredible journey from being down-and-out to soul singing sensation with his debut album No Time For Dreaming in 2011. Appearances at Glastonbury and on Later...With Jools Holland have only seen his stock rise higher. Changes is his third album and is named after the Black Sabbath track he covers with an emotional intensity that only Charles Bradley can.

Whatcha Doing (To Me) / Strike Three

Victor ‘Tiklah’ Axelrod has taken two of Charles Bradley’s soulful masterpieces and given them a reggae recharge. Whatcha Doing (To Me) featured on Bradley’s Changes album as You Think I Don’t Know (But I Know). Axelrod and his crew turn it into something akin to a 1970s Bunny Lee production. On side B you’ll find Strike Three, a dub classic in waiting that will go down well with any DJs who’ve read this far. 7” single on Daptone.

Charles Bradley
Black Velvet

Despite the sad passing of both Sharon Jones and Charles Bradley, the music of Daptone lingers on and here we get a posthumous collection of recordings by soul man Charles Bradley. It is a celebration of his entire career but is now shallow 'best of' delving into unknown corners of his back catalogue and containing unheard recordings made at sessions for all three of his studio albums. Lovingly compiled, there's a big box set too with bonus 12" and assorted ephemera.

No Time For Dreaming

No Time For Dreaming was the debut solo album from Charley Bradley the Screaming Eagle of Soul. Bradley was a plumber who spent his nights as a James Brown impersonator before being discovered by Daptone records. His music was perfect for aficionados of the classic soul sound and his voice was a pained and emotional thing which showcased his years of struggle. It was the first of three studio albums before Bradley passed away in 2017.

Victim Of Love

Victim of Love was the second studio album by the Screaming Eagle of Soul Charles Bradley. Following the success of debut No Time For Dreaming, Bradley produced a more varied work which contained several tracks which you would swear were from the golden age of soul music. His raw and emotional singing style has seen Bradley compared to Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett and James Brown -  the man Bradley had previously earned a living impersonating before his late flowering success.
