Cold War Kids
New Age Norms 1

New Age Norms 1 is the new album by Californian indie band Cold War Kids. It’s the band’s 7th album. They’ve come a long way since their second single “We Used To Vacation” hit the radio waves in 2006, cementing their place as a regular festival band with a loyal fan base prepared to part with their cash. One can only assume that this album is the start of some sort of series.

Cold War Kids
Audience

Well hang me up to dry, Cold War Kids are still alive and kicking. Though they may have slipped down the pecking order somewhat after the success of 2006’s Robbers & Cowards, the Long Beach band have plugged away admirably and released five more LPs in the intervening years. Audience - a live album recorded last year in Athens, Georgia - shows off a quietly impressive body of work.

Cold War Kids
LA Divine

Cold War Kids are using their sixth full-length LP to pay homage to their beloved hometown of Los Angeles: the City Of Angels. L.A. Divine is another set of full-throated soulful indie, with a more muscular thrust to it than many of Cold War Kids’ lighter indie contemporaries. CD / double LP release on Virgin EMI.

Cold War Kids
Hold My Home

In my age baffled state I'd have said Cold War Kids would be a bit 'punk rock' but the track I just heard was kinda 'heartland rock' with a big booming foghorn of a voice belting it out. Like the Hold Steady crossed with an air raid siren. Sure to get bagfuls of airplay on XFM.  They've played 'Live at Third Man' so they can't be all bad. We'll have to see.

Cold War Kids
Live At Third Man Records

Gotta play at Third Man Records, you know? Jack White has decreed it. This time it's the Cold War Kids, who appeared in the studio in 2010 for a little bit of alt rock deliverance. The performance is now readily available on LP from the label and who even knows what Jack White is doing but he might be listening to this record.
