London’s Rob McAndrews keeps himself busy, being live guitarist for James Blake and producing under his Airhead moniker with releases on R&S, Different Circles and 1-800 Dinosaur he returns with his second release for Hemlock. Two atmospheric club tracks that seem to deconstruct techno and house whilst keeping the floor in focus.
Kazzt is the first vinyl release in too long from Airhead, and it won’t disappoint those who’ve been waiting. Plus, Airhead has managed to secure one of the most desirable prizes in electronic music: a remix from Mumdance, oh yes oh yes. He gets real weird with it, very welcome. Limited edition of just 400 copies on Different Circles.
After years of James Blake out serving as his guitarist and general collaborator, Rob McAndrews got serious with his own solo project, Airhead, where he produces spacey and downbeat dubstep tracks for the slightly more refined dancers among you. The two tracks that make up 'October / Macondo', though, are more explosive, full of boisterous snare percussion and dancefoor kicks. These two tunes do however retain McAndrews' attention to detail in the producing department, where things remain clear and pronounced.
