CocoRosie
Put The Shine On

Since forming over 15 years ago, sisters Bianca "Coco" and Sierra "Rosie" Casady have quietly become one of modern music’s hardiest survivors, their ‘freak folk’ sound also influencing many subsequent artists. They’re now on their seventh CocoRosie album, and Put The Shine On has a shout at being their best effort to date, and certainly their boldest and most experimental.

CocoRosie
Heartache City

The sixth album from Bianca and Sierra Casady a.k.a Cocorosie is as intriguing as each of the previous works by the creatively evolving duo. Heartache City comes out on their own label Lost Girl, and takes the band back to their DIY roots, utilising vintage toybox instruments played at their farmhouse studio in Southern France. Out on CD from Lost Girl.

CocoRosie
Noah's Ark

Cocorosie were part of the nu-folk movement of the early 2000s alongside the likes of pal Devandra Banhart and have proved surprisingly durable and still releasing records to this day. Noah's Ark was their second album and reels in the collaborators. Banhart is there of course but you also get the former Antony (of the Johnsons) and French rappers Spleen. The cover was voted by the Guardian newspaper as one of the worst of all time.

CocoRosie
La Maison De Mon Reve

La Maison De Mon Reve was the debut album by Parisian via New York sisters CocoRosie and fitted perfectly into the early 2000s freak folk movement alongside the likes of Joanna Newsom and Devandra Banhardt. Their sound is unique, squeaky harmonies over acoustic instruments and an arty hippified vibe. The band have proved long lasting but this was perhaps their most inspired work.

CocoRosie
The Adventures of Ghosthorse & Stillborn

The Adventures of Ghosthorse & Stillborn was the third album by kooky duo CocoRosie and was noted for being at least 50% less kooky than their previous work. They hooked up with Bjork collaborator Valgeir Sigurðsson to record the album in a barn in the south of France. Though somewhat more streamlined and adventurous than earlier efforts it is still notable for the organic recording process with the sound of squeaks from the wood of the barn and squeaks from the animals audible beneath the duo's quiet folk music.
