Ed Askew
London

Strangely though this is an album by the legendary Ed Askew, the press release is dominated by mentions of Alex Neilson (Trembling Bells). Lord Neilson not only helped book a tour featuring Askew alongside Mike Heron (Incredible String Band) but managed to coax Askew into the studio to record this live to tape session which includes songs from across Askew's career. Trembling Bells help out (natch).

Ed Askew
A Child In The Sun: Radio Sessions 1969-1970

After recording the acid folk classic Ask The Unicorn LP in 1968, Ed Askew ostensibly stopped making music. It was only in the early 2000s when a second album was discovered that more research was done. It was this snooping that unearthed a whole load of treasures, including the tracks that make up A Child In The Sun: Radio Sessions 1969-70. Some of these cuts give the originals a run for their money too. LP on Drag City.

Ed Askew
Art and Life

Ed Askew built up a small but solid cult following over the three and a half decades between his 1968 ESP-Disk debut and his 2003 return: he’s now in a place where people are eagerly awaiting new sounds from the man with the Martin Tiple (baritone ukulele). New record Art and Life, with an Askew painting on the cover, is out on Tin Angel

Ask The Unicorn

Cult favourite of weird deep-folk, Ask The Unicorn by Ed Askew has, for a very long time, been utterly out of print. This reissue rights that wrong at last, with Askew’s keening voice and unusual Martin tiple instrument fully remastered for maximum clarity. Reissued to CD and white vinyl by Tin Angel.

Ed Askew
For The World

Singer / songwriter and painter Ed Askew is considered something of a New York legend. He released his first album 'Ask the Unicorn' in 1968 and his most recent, 'For the World' in 2013. With only four albums in between, he might not be prolific but what he lacks in output he more than makes up for in admiration. Super fan Sharon Van Etten guests on vocals. On vinyl and CD.
