FLIGHT

Flight is the fifth album by Hanni El Khatib. Having previously grinding out his gutsy, primal rock ‘n’ roll with The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach in the producer’s chair, this time he’s gone for his old friend Leon Michels. The result is something like J Dilla or Madlib producing The Cramps.

Savage Times

Hanni El Khatib decided to throw away all his past experience for Savage Times, forcing himself to explore new instruments and new ways of working. In other words, this is genuinely experimental music. After stacks of studio discovery, these are the finest 19 tracks from the sessions, presented on CD or as a triple 10” box-set. Out on Innovative Leisure.

Moonlight

Stripped-back garage rock, with a dash of hypermasculine rock and roll and a touch of the blues from San Francisco-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Hanni El Khatib. On his third album and still heavily influenced by his work with Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach. On both vinyl and CD.

Head In The Dirt

Hanni El Khatib’s music is that sort of garage-punk that, while still ramshackle enough to pass for Proper Rock Music, also has enough vogueish cool to it to bring in a lot of endorsements from big-time sportswear brands. As such, it’s no surprise to find out that The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach has put his grubby mitts all over Khatib’s sophomore full-length Head In The Dirt. Somewhere in Manhattan there is a model who owns a ‘vintage-look’ turntable and only one record. Head In The Dirt is that record.
