Vic Godard & Subway Sect
Following the release of a re-recording of Subway Sect’s ‘lost album’- ‘1978 NOW’ - in 2007, the band felt that it was time to unleash Vic Godard’s Northern Soul songs on the world and continue their wave of activity with ‘1979 NOW’. The title is inspired by a time when Paul Myers passed on a bundle of Northern Soul 45s in 1978, and the collection aims to celebrate the Northern Soul-influenced pieces that Godard wrote in, what the press release calls, "one of his most productive song writing years", and is the product of thirty five years' work. Recorded with Subway Sect - Paul Myers, Paul Cook, Kevin Younger, Mark Braby and Yusuf B'Layachi - the album was produced by AED head honcho Edwyn Collins and Seb Lewsley at their West Heath Studios.
