Luc Ferrari
Photophonie

An archival album scouring the works of renowned French avant-garde composer Luc Ferrari, to mark what would have been his 90th birthday in 2019. Photophonie collects four tracks spanning 1973 to 1992, each radically different and commissioned for a wide range of purposes, and shows just how versatile and visionary Ferrari was.

Luc Ferrari
Music Promenade / Unheimlich Schön

Recollection GRM - a sub-label of Editions Mego, dontcha know - present a couple of important early recordings from late musique concrete pioneer Luc Ferrari. Side A offers up the 1970 premier of ‘Music Promenade’, a piece for four tape recorders that has plenty of crossover with what Karlheinz Stockhausen and Steve Reich were doing at the time. On the other side we get 1971’s investigation of the voice ‘Unheimlich Schön’.

Luc Ferrari
L'Escalier Des Aveugles

The late Luc Ferrari composed L’Escalier des Aveugles (The Stairway Of The Blind) for Spanish National Radio as part of 1990’s European Day Of Music. Over a musical landscape that takes in everything from lopsided electroacoustic composition to sky-scraping ambiences, six actors speak in order to guide the listener through different parts of Madrid - the subway, a market, a gallery containing Goya’s The 3rd Of May 1908 and so on. The resulting work is engrossing and often moving.

Luc Ferrari
Atelier De Liberation De La Musique

An album of previously unheard recordings from a wild 1975 Paris rehearsal in which Luc Ferrari's Atelier De Libération De La Musique (Ferrari, Martin Davorin Jagodic, Philippe Besombes and Alain Petit) venture through rattling polyrhythms, thrilling drones and pulsing chords. A searing, experimental album.

Luc Ferrari
Tinguely 1967

Wow! This amazing musique concrete material from maestro Luc Ferrari has never previously been released! Tinguely 1967 and Dernier Matin d’Edgar-Allan Poe were composed for film and TV pieces, and show what Ferrari could do when working to a moving image. These two pieces will feature in a forthcoming 3CD compilation, but this is your chance to hear them on vinyl. From Sub Rosa.

Luc Ferrari
Complete Music For Films 1960-1984

A collection of French composer Luc Ferrari’s work for film. All incredibly rare pieces, and most have never been released. Setting his pioneering musique concrète and electroacoustic music to film, Sub Rosa have collated all seven of his soundtracks onto this 3CD collection. Comes with notes from Ferrari, extra writings and photos from the films.

Luc Ferrari
Hétérozygote / Petite Symphonie

Composed between 1963-1964, Hétérozygote / Petite Symphonie is the electroacoustic release from Luc Ferrari. A classic combination of the most experimental and almost hallucinogenic sounds that are built together to make one of the most pioneering avant-garde soundscape albums released. Available on Vinyl LP.
