Cardopusher Vinyl, CD & tapes from this artist at Norman Records
Catalan weirdo Cardopusher returns to Boysnoize (Jensen Interceptor, Spank Rock) with the first instalment in his A Convenient Excuse series. The five tunes of Pt. 1 are rough and ready club takes which combine several strands of techno to good effect. Acid, jacking electro, scuzzy synthwave and even a little Balearic house are chucked into the mix here. The cross-pollinations and lo-fi vibe makes for a pleasingly leftfield listen.
Various renditions of groovy electro from Cardopusher (Venezuela-born Luis Garbàn) for Super Rhythm Trax. There’s classic acid kicking off the a-side (‘Trust Your TV’), leading into b-movie horror electro (‘Geotropism’) and then more rubbery 80s electro (‘Never Fade Away’). On the flip we’ve got some very nice, shuffling house (‘Microbes’) before things round off in the dirty back alleys of ‘Mental Jobs (NYC Edit)’.
Cardopusher presents a whole LP of no-holds-barred heavyweight acidic techno, designed for the most intense part of any given night out. New Cult Fear contains eleven tracks, each packed to the gills with hard kicks, tweaked-out acid synth lines and cheeky micro-samples. Double LP release on Boys Noize, the record label run by Boys Noize.
Cardopusher’s Unsatisfied Customer Jams basically does what it says on the tin. This 12” vinyl on Super Rhythm Trax is four tracks of rough, raw analogue acid house optimised for dingy rooms. The basslines are squelchier than anything else and the drum machines are denser. This is sharp and melodic dance music honed to perfect, formal simplicity.
As co-founder of the Classicworks label and an alumni of Red Bull Music Academy, Venezuelan-born Cardopusher pushes boundaries wherever he finds them. His debut album Manipulator is an ode to all kinds of electronic music from the 90’s, swinging between Warp-influenced glitch and lo fi techno like it ain’t no thing. Out on Vinyl Double 12" from Boys Noize.
Properly potent dancefloor techno power from Cardopusher. Indeed, if you didn’t feel like making it out to the club, Mindwarp could accompany a very punishing cardiovascular routine. Two brand spanking new Cardopusher tracks on the A-side and a remix from JoeFarr on the B. 12” on Them Records.
