Life Goes On EP

Extremely Phil Band (tm) BEAK> celebrate their summer 2019 being filled with festival shows with Life Goes On EP. Apparently inspired by the sound of the Mexican equivalent of a rag-and-bone man (not the singer), the tracks are as intense and eccentric as they've always been. Also features a remix by accordion genius Mario Batkovic.

BEAK / KAEB
Split EP

This ‘double B-side’ EP is a split between Bristol three piece BEAK (Geoff Barrow (Portishead) with Billy Fuller (Fuzz Against Junk) and Matt Williams (Team Brick) and themselves, in the form of their alter ego KAEB (an ever revolving expansion on the original line up). Featuring two tracks from each incarnation including a track featuring vocal contributions from California rapper/producer Jonwayne.

Sex Music

Here they come again those BEAK> boys. Here the threesome tease a track from their upcoming full length with four minutes of slinking grooves, kraut like pulsating drums and squiggly synths. Not only that but they have drafted in Win Butler the very tall leader from Arcade Fire to do a remix which you'll find on side B.

>>>

Beak’s third album, >>>, follows on from > and >>. Does this show a lot or very little imagination when it comes to naming albums? Anyway, the classy electronic three-piece who are led by Portishead’s Geoff Barrow have taken another step forward and their sound grows along with the stages they’re invited to play on. LP and CD on Invada.

Brean Down

Portishead’s Geoff Barrow joined by Bill Fuller and Will Young comprise the pointed, rostral trio of Beak>. The last album was called >>, the newly-announced third album’s called >>> and I’ve a hunch what the one after that will be called as well. >>>’s lead single here is ‘Brean Down’, which sounds unexpectedly like a successful combination of Nirvana with Third-era Portishead.

Black Mirror: Men Against Fire

In what is amounts to arguably the darkest and most dystopian television programme of 2016, Charlie Brooker's sensational Black Mirror has returned with a vengeance. This Men Against Fire soundtrack composed by Ben Salisbury & Geoff Barrow provides the perfect companion to a stunning and harrowing array of visuals.

Couple In A Hole Soundtrack

Invada have built up a strong reputation for issuing film soundtracks over the last few years, and their latest release finds label-owner (and Portishead co-founder) Geoff Barrow firing up his kraut-pulse trio BEAK> to accompany Tom Geen’s Couple In A Hole. Their uneasy vibe fits the cave setting of the film very nicely.

0898 / Welcome To The Machine

Couple of great tracks from Bristol-based Beak> on this limited edition white vinyl 10" on Invada. One from their special edition first album which perfectly captures their weird krautrock sound and another treat: a cover of a Pink Floyd track which manages to keep the darkness of the original, while making it entirely new.

Beak>

They are pretty big cheeses now but this is where it all started for BEAK>. The three Bristol musicians (Billy Fuller, Matt Williams and Geoff Barrow...the latter of Portishead fame) got together to try to make music under strict conditions such as no overdubs or repair to fluffed lines and only minor edits allowed. We'd say they've been pretty successful and are now one of the most admired kraut-influenced bands in the UK.
