Wipers
Land Of The Lost

The Wipers were a punk rock band from Portland, Oregon led by Greg Sage. They were a massive influence on Nirvana who covered their songs Return Of The Rat, D-7 and Turnaround. Land Of The Lost was their fourth album, originally released in 1986. It’s fair to say that this was underrated album back then, but it still remains a much-sought after album. Search no more, Land Of The Lost has been found.

Wipers
Is This Real?

Unquestionably Portland's most well-loved punk group, the Wipers formed in the late 1970s and in 1980 released their debut LP, "Is This Real?"- twelve songs of stabbing, jittery guitar, snapped vocals, and unabashed teen angst. Full of desperation and yearning, the LP has stood as a blueprint for wretched youth for over 25 years. In the early 1990s "Is This Real?" was given mainstream attention when Nirvana covered two tracks off the record and Cobain announced it was one of the primary influences on his group. While it was reissued on compact disc and available as a part of the Wipers Boxed Set (Zeno), this is the first time "Is This Real?" has been available on vinyl in the U.S. since its initial release.

Greg Sage
Straight Ahead

This album by Greg Sage is notable for being the one that persuaded J. Mascis that the acoustic guitar was a thing worth existing, and Straight Ahead is worth your attention for that alone. Though even if you could care less about Dinosaur Jr, you should check it out on its own merit, as Wipers man Sage created an excellent, rather special album here. Remastered and reissued by Luxury Products.

Wipers Rarities

This underground Wipers material has only been available through back-alley bootleg channels for the last 25 years, but now these Wipers Rarities are respectable at last, with an official release on the Bang! label. A full 2 LPs of live shows, B-sides, compilation tracks and their super-rare first single. Pow! 1000 copies only.

Better Off Dead

Originally released in 1978 Better Off Dead was the first recordings made by Portland, Oregan punk rockers Wipers. Whilst being heralded as being highly influential they hardly played live and were mainly a DIY studio band, only being discovered through cassette compilations and later Nirvana playing live covers. Limited repress on Jackpot.

Wipers
Youth of America

Nice re-issue of the second album from Greg Sage's post-punk greats. This is where the band got all cold and nihilistic and spread six long tracks that burn with a fiery intensity across the LP. It's a harsh angular sound that influenced Mission of Burma amongst others and led Kurt Cobain to consider it one of the top 50 records to be released ever.

Follow Blind

Originally released on Restless back in 1987, Follow Blind was the fifth studio album by pioneering Pacific Northwestern punk band Wipers, who would later gain the patronage of Kurt Cobain. While this album often goes underappreciated in their catalogue, perhaps this silver-coloured vinyl re-issue will cause a re-evaluation.
